The first impression is one of fruitiness: elegant notes of ripe fruit, dried fruit, spices and Viennese pastries. The presence of Chardonnay adds a delicate, floral touch. The wine's ageing bestows roundness and aromatic intensity. Toasted notes are present as well as warmer hints of gingerbread and honey.
With a predominance of Pinot Noir to give this typical structure, a touch of Miller completes the blend while Chardonnay brings elegance and finesse. Traditionally, the proportion of each grape variety used is 50 to 55% Pinot Noir, 15 to 20% Meunier and 28 to 33% Chardonnay. These figures vary slightly from year to year depending on the conditions.
Based on invaluable reserve wines for blending: from 30 to 45% to ensure the continuity of the House's style. All wines are kept separately to preserve the unique qualities of their vineyard and/or vintage. Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label manages to reconcile two opposing factors - strength and silkiness - and to maintain them in perfect balance with aromatic intensity and a lot of freshness. This constant pleasing power makes it ideal as an aperitif and perfect as a champagne to be enjoyed with a meal.
