Have a crunchy Easter!

Singapore – Monday, 22 February 2010 – Hédiard Singapore, a provider of luxury delicatessen since 1854, fine food and renown for its luxury gift boxes announced today the availability of its Easter 2010 collection.

Here, a child's Matryoshka, there, perky bells and mischievous teddy bears, over there, round eggs with their funny coloured sweet inserts...

In Hédiard's garden Easter 2010 isn't a celebration, it's a sweet and impish game! Children will love it, but so will grown-ups who are still kids at heart!
This year's figurines, bells and eggs look like appetising, heart-warming or coloured toys straight out of fairy tale books. They combine a base of the finest cocoas with boiled sweets, jelly beans and chocolate lentils.

This is a fun, modern interpretation of the traditional Easter egg hunt!

Eggs are a significant feature of Russian culture. So are Matryoshkas, handmade wooden dolls given to children as gifts.
The chocolate version created by Hédiard is based on two sources of inspiration. The egg is precious and refined, with painted decoration, just as it was at the Russian court in the 19th century. It has the same shape as the traditional toy, a young woman in a sarafan, the dress worn on festive occasions in the countryside, and a warm, protective shawl.

The egg has an assertive personality that celebrates the year of Russia in France and combines one of Ferdinand Hédiard's favourite themes, travel, with the present tense!

In the 13th-century red-coloured chicken eggs decorated with designs or drawings were offered to celebrate the end of Lent and its privations.
During the Renaissance, golden eggs replaced chicken eggs in the European kingdoms. These items reached their peak at the Russian court during the late 19th century.
